Tell me a little about Southern Cross University (SCU) and CEDAR?

SCU campuses are located in Lismore, Coffs Harbour and the Tweed/Gold Coast. The University also has a Professional Centre is located in the Central Business District of Sydney, and with partner institutions, has a presence in Melbourne, Perth, and other international locations. The latest communications technology links the campuses and provides a fast and reliable interconnectivity with the world for our distance education students. SCU has an enviable reputation for both its traditional and innovative programs, supported by the excellent calibre of its academic staff. The Centre for Enterprise Development and Research (CEDAR) is a research and training centre housed and staffed by academics at SCU. CEDAR aims to enhance the understanding of enterprises in contemporary markets, by conducting business and community training programs, and through the supervision of research candidates. How long is the course?

The course contains 4 topics, which will be administered over an 8 week period (i.e. 1 topic each fortnight). The program will be delivered online, with lectures presented using Elluminate Live!, an easy to use web-based audio-conferencing tool for real-time collaboration. These sessions will be held at night, on a pre-determined scheduled.

Can I participate in the lectures from home?

Wherever you are in the world, if you have an internet connection (and after following the installation instructions), you can link into the lectures via Elluminate Live!. So if at work, home, or lazing by the pool, the flexible delivery of the lectures will suit all course participants.

What if I miss a lecture?

Don’t worry. Using Elluminate Live!, each lecture/discussion will be ‘recorded’ for later playback. So if you miss a lecture, we will send you a link to view and listen to the session: you will see all the slides used in the lecture, you will hear your lecturer deliver the topic, you will even hear what your peers had to say during the real-time, collaborative discussion. You may also like to use the recorded sessions to review a particular topic/week you wanted to look back on. Recorded lectures will be retained on the system for a number of weeks.
